Painting flowers is for me an act of remembrance, they have normally gone past their best before the painting is finished and this is a way I can make them last longer. add to that the refractions through the glass vase in the window and my attention is caught. These where resting on the table in my studio at the time which has one window which catches afternoon light as the sun passes over.
