About
Megan’s work is predominantly oil paintings looking at still life in mundane scenes from around the home and floral displays. These later paintings work in series of 6 around a common background to create a selection in 3 sizes for each, 2 80x80square, 2 30-40cm square and 2 smaller paintings anything ranging around 20x20cm or rectangular equivalent. These series are a continuation of large floral paintings Megan made in the pandemic, then as a way to relax while also still leaving the house daily to work in a school, although now, as a way to make something beautiful last longer, while still playing with her love of painting the complexities in glass. Limited to 6 to keep the subject fresh in her mind.
Her mundane paintings are regularly a way to poke fun at the home, like the ongoing series of paintings and sketches of plants she hasn’t killed yet…
Her painting style takes from study of Rembrandt and Jenny Saville in her fine art degree with an expressive use of vibrant colour and a painterly effect in her realistic paintings.
Having finished art education, her method, while still gently altering with newly discovered mediums and colours, has slowed to develop into a consistent practise, producing work which Megan hopes bring joy or sometimes just a wry smile to collectors.
